a Chat - Galah Cockatoos, Galah Cockatoo by Jan Matson, Galahs Print - Taffy Blue. I am aware that cockatoos produce a dust that may agitate my conure if not properly dealt with on a daily basis. Common Names: Rose-breasted cockatoo, galah, galah cockatoo. The birds will not be housed together they will have separate cages. The main reason i ask is that i would want whichever bird i choose to at least be able to have supervised time out of it's cage with my Conure as he is pretty much out the entire time there is someone in the house be it me or my other half.įinally just a few things to mention in case people were wondering. The few sites that do mention it say that unlike most cockatoos they are generally accepting of other birds but this was from websites that all had quite limited information in general, so i thought i'd ask you guys for your own personal experiences. One of the parrots i am in heavy research mode over is the Galah or rose breasted cockatoo, thankfully being one of the more commonly kept of the small cockatoos there is a good bit of information on them out there especially on some of the Australian sites, i have however found it very difficult to track down any information on what Galahs are like with other birds. My Conure is just shy of 1 and i would ideally like to get a second bird while he is still young so as to avoid the "only bird syndrome" effect. They appear to have been self-introduced to Tasmania. Galahs are found in all Australian states, and are absent only from the driest areas and the far north of Cape York Peninsula. It occupies open country in almost all parts of mainland Australia. Having grown up in multiple bird households this was always the end goal when starting up another feathered family, i'm a firm believer in the flock mentality and my birds having at least one other of their kind to interact with. The Galah Cockatoo is one of the most common and widespread cockatoos. I'm in the process of adding another parrot to my tidly flock of one (Merlin, a Sun Conure). that i feel the need to preface my questions on bird forums with, just trust me when i say i am an experienced parrot owner with many years under my belt. Hey guys! i won't bore you with my bird experience C.V.
